The methodology of students' knowledge evaluation in "Microbiology, virology and immunology" according with credit-module rating system

The methodology of students' knowledge evaluation
in "Microbiology, virology and immunology"
according with credit-module rating system

This provision is designed according to the main provisions of the estimation of educational activity of students of SSU Medical Institute for credit-transfer system of the educational process and an order enacted Director Medical Institute № 6 of January 30, 2017.

In order to intensify the educational process of systematic learning material, establishing feedback to each student, monitoring and timely adjustment of the educational process, to motivate learning,reduce the number of class admissions, students responsibility for the results of training activities, success each student in microbiology, virology and immunology evaluated for credit-module-rating scale.

The maximum number of points that student can get in the study of subjects are 200 points and the minimum - 120 points.

Program subject "Microbiology, Virology and Immunology" is structured into three modules. Control measures in the study course arecurrent control and final control (2 tests (in III and IV semester) and exam (in V semester)).

In each class and  on the final lesson student do theoretical training and practical work. Theoretical part is estimated by passing of the computer tests. Practical part is estimated by solve the practically oriented problems and surveys. Estimates put up the traditional 4-point scale and then converted to rating points (system transfer ratings to scores and their ratio for different types of work listed in the table), in case when student did not prepared to the class  he get "0" points.

2.1. Final control in the semester with test

The student receives final points during the last lesson of discipline in current semester. This kind of final control does not provide any additional written work or tests at the last lesson.

Conditions for obtaining final points are:

1. reworking all missed classes;

2. the current average mark of discipline is not lower than "3";

3. the positive result of  "STEP", which is equal to 70% correct answers to test questions 20.

Students who have an average current assessment less than "3" can increase your current score by testting (at least 60% correct answers to 20 test questions).

2.2. Final control in the semester with exam

The exam is conducted in writing. Examination questions (4 questions in the ticket) include control of practical and theoretical training. The part of the exam is positive result of "STEP", which is equal to 70% correct answers to 20 test questions.

By semester exam are allowed students which:

were present in all classroom lesons (lectures, workshops);

were reworked all missed classes;

received minimum number of points (at least 72, corresponding to the national mark "3");

Students who have an average current assessment less than "3" can increase your current score by testting (at least 60% correct answers to 20 test questions).

Score examination exposed the traditional 4-point scale and converted a 200-point (Table 4).

The maximum number of points that a student can get an exam - 80.

The minimum number of points that a student must score on the exam - 48.

Score examination exposed the traditional 4-point scale and converted a 200-point (See table below).

Current points Final points Points of discipline 4-point scale
102 - 120 80,0 170–200 5 (perfectly)
84,0 – 101,9 64,0 140–169,9 4 (good)
72,0 – 83,9 48,0 120–139,9 3 (enough)
lessе 72 0 less120 2 (not enough)

Evaluation of individual self-study

Scores for the different types of individual self-study (SEW) depends on the volume and importance. These points are added to the amount of points obtained by a student for the current academic activities:

Type of individual self-study Number of points
Participation in the interuniversity competitions in the discipline (prize) and participation in international scientific student conferences. 9-12
Participation in the interuniversity competitions in the discipline (without prize) and participation in international scientific student conferences. 6-8
Participation in the university competitions in the discipline (without prize) and participation in university scientific student conferences. To 5
